Much like our comprehensive courses for young people, this course will teach a wide variety of fine art drawing and painting skills for adults. Students will learn the principles of visual measurement, colour theory, and composition, as well as how to use a wide variety of materials to render a diverse range of subject matter.
From illustration to portraiture, to master studies and more… We will leave no artistic stone unturned!
This ongoing course is suitable for beginners, improvers, and experienced artists alike and will be led by Artist Rebecca McDonald.
In all courses at Turpentyne participants will gain essential drawing and painting techniques and skills using a range of materials, provided by Turpentyne.
Turpentyne Atelier: The Painted Aviary

Learn classical, historical painting skills in our Turpentyne Atelier classes, specially designed to focus on traditional methods used by the old masters.
In this course, you will learn to draw and paint birds in watercolour and acrylic. Special emphasis will be placed on the rendering of the textures and details in feathers.
This course is suitable for beginners, improvers, and experienced artists alike and will be led by Artist Rebecca McDonald.
You will gain essential drawing and painting techniques and skills using materials provided by Turpentyne.
